Lisa Signs Deal with Major Music Library
Lisa's singer/songwriter-soundtrack tune, "You Are Just" was recently selected by a music publisher at a major music library with a high rate of success working with major players in the industry. The song will now be available and pitched to major films, TV shows, and advertisements. Stay tuned for more news on this one!


Lisa Signs Deal with Film Placement Company
Recently, Lisa was approached by a company that places music in film and TV shows. The company has worked with songwriters to place music in numerous productions — from cable TV programs to major feature films — and, after hearing Lisa's music online, expressed an interest in representing her and her music!


Eight of Lisa's Tunes Selected by Licensing Company
A licensing company that places music in projects worldwide has selected eight of Lisa's songs for representation. The company will actively seek placement opportunities for the tunes, which include instrumental compositions, pop vocal tunes, and singer-songwriter pieces.


"Broken" Enters Broadjam Top 10
Lisa's ballad, "Broken", entered into Broadjam's Maryland Top 10 List. The song joins two other songs written by Lisa, which are also in the Top 10, "Better for the Worst" and "You Are Just."


"All I See is the Sun" Being Considered for
National Ad

Co-written with one of Lisa's writing partners, Writer/Producer Jason Hoffheins, "All I See is the Sun" is being considered for a national ad campaign! No word yet, but we'll keep you posted.


"You Are Just" Makes Three Top 10 Lists
Lisa's newest song, "You Are Just", a piano ballad written for film/tv, has remained at #2 on Broadjam's Maryland Top 10 List, #5 on the Mid-Atlantic Top 10 List, and #8 on the overall Pop-Easy Listening Top 10.


"The Valley" Hits #4
Lisa's soundtrack tune, "The Valley" is holding steady at #4 on Broadjam's Maryland Top 10 List.


"Spin This World the Other Way" Wins 1st Place in Great American Song Contest!
A song that Lisa Horan co-wrote with Stephen Joseph Antonelli received top honors in the Hip Hop/Rap category of the 13th Annual Great American Song Contest. The song was written for an anti-bullying organization called Rockin' the Rage.


"Better for the Worst" in Film Debuting at Toronto Film Festival
Lisa's inspirational pop tune, "Better for the Worst" was recently included in a film by Ed Sanchez (of Blair Witch fame), which made its debut at the Toronto Film Festival. In addition to "Better for the Worst," another of Lisa’s songs, "Still Beautiful", was featured in the film. The film will be distributed worldwide.


"Parachute" Released
Lisa's original song, "Parachute" has been receiving praise on Jango Radio. Check out the song on the music page. It is currently being shopped to film producers.


Lisa Co-Writes Songs for Non-Profit Organization
Lisa's company, PopMark Media, was selected to write two songs for a non-profit organization (Rockin' the Rage), which attempts to combat bullying in schools. Along with Stephen Joseph Antonelli, Lisa co-wrote "Spin This World the Other Way" and a children’s song called "It's Fun to be NISSE." (Visit the Music Page to check them out.)


Global Company Chooses PopMark to Produce Custom Music Track
A global company based in Baltimore selected Lisa’s company, PopMark Media to produce a custom music track as well as a music video that will be featured in a company gala. The track is a country/Americana style and chronicles the crazy set of circumstances the company endured in 2011.

Lisa Invited to Speak at AES
Lisa, along with Business Partners Stephen Joseph Antonelli and Kevin Hill were invited by SPARS (the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services) to speak on a panel (Called "Lessons from Savvy Business Owners") at the 131st AES Convention held in New York City. Lisa, Steve, and Kevin spoke about the success of PopMark over the last year, and how they’ve made things happen. The panel discussion was a huge hit. One attendee called it "the most relevant panel at the event."


Lisa Performs Original Material at Crush Winehouse and Maryland Hall
Lisa was invited by Songwriter Bob Klein to perform some of her original music, as well as several cover tunes, at Annapolis, MD’s Crush Winehouse. She also performed several original songs at a holiday concert held at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, MD. Special thanks Artist in Residence Rob Levit for the invitation.

"Better for the Worst" was recently awarded the Gold Award in the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest, along with the 2nd Place OVERALL Award. More photos and performance video coming soon.


"Better for the Worst" Holds #1 Slot!
"Better for the Worst" held the #1 slot in Broadjam's MD Top 10 list for four weeks! It spent several months in the top 10, and gradually pushed its way to the top position.


"GPS" Gets Recognition
Tween dance tune, "GPS" enters Broadjam's MD Top 10 list at #9 and makes it to #6! The song is being pitched to young artists.


Hired to Write Pop Songs for Up and Coming Singer
Lisa has been hired to write songs for an up-and-coming child singer, who will be heavily marketed to Disney and Nickelodeon. Through the music division of her company PopMark Media, the songs will be fully produced and promoted. More to come on this major project soon!


Two Songs Being Used in Film
Two of Lisa's songs, "Better for the Worst" and "Still Beautiful" will be used in scenes of an upcoming film, which could have major distribution. The film is currently in audio post production.


"Better for the Worst" Chosen Among 500 Songs
Lisa's Adult Contemporary tune, "Better for the Worst" was one of five songs chosen among 500 submissions for potential use in a film about hitting rock bottom and recovering again. More info coming soon!


Asked to Write Songs for Nashville Group
Lisa was asked by a Nashville industry professional to write patriotic songs for an album project and tour for a girl pop/country group. (Check out songs on Music Page.)


Hired to Sing Country Demo
Lisa recently recorded the demo of a song written by Country Songwriter Ashley Carlyle. The song was recorded at PopMark Media's new studios.

Invited to Perform for NSAI Show
Lisa was invited to perform original music with four other songwriters for an event sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI) at Cancun Cantina.


Great News for "Better for the Worst"
Lisa's song, "Better for the Worst" was recently recognized by Sony Music Producer Brian Steen who called it one of his "faves" and said the song "has the goods to get placed." He is currently shopping it around among his industry colleagues. In addition, a reviewer at the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI), was quoted as saying: "It sounds like a hit song" and was selected to be pitched to publishers and A&R execs at a quarterly gathering sponsored by the organization.

In September, "Better for the Worst" made it up to Number 4 in Broadjam's Maryland Top 10 Chart. The song has been in the Top 5 for 4 weeks straight.

"Maybe It's Love," "So Over You," and "GPS" were selected by a Chicago music executive who works with the nation's top advertising agencies for potential placement. He is currently seeking placement opportunities for the tunes.


Lisa Invited to Serve as Judge for Celebrated Film/Video Awards Program
In September, Lisa was invited to serve as a judge and facilitate the judging panel for the music and sound category of the 2010 PEER Awards, a well-known awards program in the Washington, DC production community. Lisa, along with business partner/producer Kevin Hill and two judges chosen by Lisa and Kevin, were put in charge of reviewing all entries to the awards category and determining the winners.

Lisa Attends NSAI Event on Capitol Hill
Lisa and Colleague Kevin Hill were invited to attend an event held in Washington, DC by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). During the day, songwriters from Nashville and Los Angeles gathered in front of members of Congress to stress the importance of strengthening legislation that protects intellectual property rights. That evening, these songwriters performed some of their hit songs and talked one-on-one with attendees. Lisa had the opportunity to personally meet a number of the country's top songwriters, including Jeffrey Steele ("What Hurts the Most", "My Wish"), Dan Navarro ("We Belong"), Bobby Tomberlin ("One More Day"), and Danny Wells ("These Days").


Lonely World Selected For International Campaign
Lisa's pop piano tune "Lonely World" was selected by United Entertainment & Media for placement in major retail stores across the United Kingdom and Europe. Each month, the song will be played on in store channels, exposing the song to thousands of customers.


Lisa Chosen by Rockin' Moms
Lisa was recently selected to be a featured artist with Rockin' Moms, a project dedicated to promoting, inspiring, acknowledging, and celebrating the works and passions of moms who are songwriters and musicians. The organization will be interviewing Lisa for their podcast, as well. More details to come!


Lisa Signs with MangoReel Music
Twelve of Lisa's Pop and Adult Contemporary tracks were selected by MangoReel, a music consultancy company based in the UK, for licensing with TV, film, video games, and other media. You can view Lisa's page on the MangoReel site here.


Three New Songs Released!
Three new songs were recently completed and released: "GPS" and "Welcome to Brand New" are being pitched to the Disney market for a young artist, and "Lonely World" is being pitched to TV and film. Check them out at here!

Lisa Interviewed for TV Program
Lisa was invited to appear on CineMaryland, a half hour program that focuses on the Maryland film/television industry. Lisa was interviewed about her songwriting, as well as her role as the creative director of Studio Unknown, the audio post facility/recording studio she works for. The segment, which will air in February, also features Lisa's producers Kevin Hill (the owner of Studio Unknown) and Stephen Joseph, along with two filmmakers that the studio is working with. These aptly describe Lisa when she had the opportunity to meet Adam Watts, the insanely talented songwriter, singer, and producer whom she has long considered a great inspiration. Watts has written/co-written such songs as "This is Me" (Demi Lovato), "I Gotta Find You," (Jonas Brothers), "Beautiful Soul," (Jesse McCartney), "What I've Been Looking For," (High School Musical), "This is Home," (Switchfoot, for the Chronicles of Narnia), and "Let it Fade" (Jeremy Camp). Lisa's Producer and the Owner of Studio Unknown, an audio post facility and recording studio at which Lisa serves as creative director, recently landed a sweet gig with Mix Magazine: a regularly featured column that will spotlight small studios around the country that are making a big impact on the industry. The first piece, "The Hidden Value of Interns" is the featured article on Mix Online (www.mixonline.com). The article features interviews with major players in the music industry, including the owner of Parlor Productions, a Grammy-award winning studio in Nashville that has recorded such artists as Rascal Flatts, Michael McDonald, and Lee Ann Womack; the operations manager of Indianapolis' The Lodge Recording Studio, which hosts both publishing clients and national touring acts like Alanis Morissette, Pink, and Shaggy; and Boston and NYC's Cybersound, where such acts as the Jonas Brothers, New Kids on the Block, and Robin Thicke have recorded. Lisa flew out to LA with Producer Kevin Hill and Songwriter Seth Hurwitz to attend the 2009 TAXI Road Rally. The event assembles an impressive collection of music industry insiders including A&R representatives, producers, and accomplished songwriters and gives attendees the opportunity to tap into their expertise through panel discussions and workshops. In addition to meeting such music elite as Songwriter and Singer Adam Watts, Top Nashville Songplugger Sherrill Blackman, Hit Country Songwriter Danny Wells, Sr. Director, A&R/Producer of Universal South Records Cliff Audretch III, VP of ASCAP Nashville Ralph Murphy, Executive Producer and Creative Director of Studio 51 (Oprah Winfrey Show) Dave Trotter, and others, Lisa's music received high praise.


"Child of God" Selected for Radio Airtime on Nashville Broadcasting Radio Network
The upbeat CCM tune, "Child of God," produced by Stephen Joseph and Kevin Hill, was selected by radio executives for airplay on the Nashville Broadcasting Radio Network. Lisa received a direct call from Station Director and Host Cliff Ayers letting her know that the song was being played on his radio program, "World Wide Record Row Review," on Saturday afternoons and was receiving praise from listeners around the world. Lisa Invited to Press Dinner with Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame 2010 Nominee Darlene Love
As a result of Lisa's connections to the film/music/tv industry via her freelance writing, Lisa was invited to attend a private press dinner in Baltimore, MD announcing the acquisition of the film rights to
My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story by REEL Good Productions. Hand-picked by music legend Phil Spector, Darlene has enjoyed a successful career in the music and film industries that has lasted nearly five decades. She has sung backing vocals for such artists as Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Cher, Dionne Warwick, and Aretha Franklin. Just a few of the hits on which Darlene's voice can be heard include "Johnny Angel," "Baby I Need Your Loving," "The Tracks of My Tears," and "Da Doo Ron Ron." Several of her songs can be heard in motion picture soundtracks, including "All Alone on Christmas," which was featured in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Darlene's acting credits include a role as Danny Glover’s wife in the four Lethal Weapon movies, as well as roles on Broadway in Grease and Hairspray. In October, she will perform with Bruce Springsteen at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame event.

Thanks to Filmmaker Eric Temple (canyonproductions.com), Lisa had the opportunity to meet Singer/Songwriter Tom Russell (www.tomrussell.com) and Guitarist/Singer Thad Beckman (www.thadbeckman.com), fresh off of their appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Russell's songs have been covered by such greats as Johnny Cash, Nancy Griffin, Ian Tyson, KD Lang, and Ramblin' Jack Elliott, among others, and have been featured in film and television. His newly released CD, "Blood and Candle Smoke," a collection of witty, deep, and lyrically-genius observations, is earning rave reviews among critics and fans. Thad Beckman has shared the stage with such artists as B.B. King, Albert Collins, James Cotton, The Band, and Emmylou Harris. The two are currently on a nationwide tour.


"You Got it Now" Gets It!
...placement in an indie film, that is. Lisa's pop/rock song "You Got it Now" was selected for the indie film, Please God Someone Normal, a romantic comedy about a girl who goes on a series of dates with a collection of weird and crazy guys, only to finally find her true love. The film is set for release in late 2009.

Music industry insiders choose "Can't Stand You"
Lisa's edgy pop song "Can't Stand You" was selected by music industry reviewers for possible use by Thrive Records, an LA record company founded by industry pioneer Ricardo Vinas as a joint venture with Sire/Warner Bros. Records. Thrive Records has released the soundtracks of such films as Pi, which won a Sundance Film Festival Award for Best Director, the Oscar-nominated film Memento, the acclaimed film Requiem for a Dream, and the Tom Cruise-produced film Shattered Glass.


New videos now on website!
New videos featuring unplugged versions of three of Lisa's latest songs, "Helpless," "C'mon Love," and "One of These Days," have been completed and have been added to the website. You just might see them pop up in a few other places, too!


"One of These Days" gets the green light!
Lisa's uplifting pop tune, "One of These Days," was forwarded by A&R representatives to Firebrand Productions, an entertainment production company that has produced over 20 movies and worked with stars such as Matt Damon, Tommy Lee Jones, Frances McDormand, Whoopie Goldberg, Eva Longoria and many more.


"You Deliver Me" selected by A&R Reps
Lisa's song, "You Deliver Me," was selected by representatives of TAXI, the world’s leading independent A&R company, to be forwarded to HK Records for possible use by a successful young artist.


New tunes nearing completion
Producer Stephen Joseph and Lisa are in the end stages of production on two new songs, a driving pop tune that will be heavily marketed to the industry and a ballad that will be marketed to the adult contemporary and tv/film markets. (Check back soon for fully produced tracks!)
